Fourth Time's a Charm?

Hi Warriors,

I'm back! My husband and I are excited to announce our fourth transfer happening this November!

A lot has happened since then.

Before starting another transfer, we knew we had to make some changes from our previous transfers, we just didn't know what.

After taking time and doing our research, we found a Reproductive Immunologist in our area. I of course reached out and was added to the wait list. About four months later, I got a call, notifying it was my turn!

They did a bunch of test, numerous blood draws (27 vials in one sitting to be exact), and ultrasounds. The main issue they found what that I have elevated NK Cells (also known as natural killer cells). So, every time we did a transfer, my NK cells would be over active, thinking the embryo was a foreign object, or cancer, and try to eliminate it from my body. My immune system is also over-active, meaning it is always "on" trying to get rid of any virus or disease that enters my body. It explains why I get sick easily and often!

The good news? Our immunologist has seen this many times before, and my case is not considered severe, and it is treatable. The bad news? I have to take a ton of new medication on top of my IVF medication (most likely for the entirety of my pregnancy-- yay!).

Our immunologist has put me on numerous medications to essentially calm my immune system down, as well as a number of supplements (about 20 medications a day). After being on them for a couple of months, my tests and lab results came back normal, which means the meds are working!

So, here we are! In about a month we will have our transfer (if all goes well!).

Prayers and good vibes are always appreciated ✨
