Update

Hi Warriors,

Well, the day has come, and I am officially diagnosed with Endometriosis, something I have expected for a very long time, due to my heavy and excruciating menstrual cycles and losses. 1 in 10 women have Endometriosis, and only half are officially diagnosed.

What exactly is Endometriosis? According to MayoClinic.org, endo is:

an often-painful condition in which tissue that is similar to the inner lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It often affects the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the tissue lining the pelvis.

And the only way to be officially diagnosed with Endo is through Laparoscopic surgery. I had my surgery on Dec 5th after finding a doctor that finally believed me and validated my pain. He explained to me that he can go in and find nothing, or go in and find something.

And boy, did they find something.

After waking up from surgery, I asked if I had Endo, and the nurse said they found it on my uterus and bladder. One "implant" on the back of my uterus, and three on my bladder. This, in a weird way, is good news. Good news because I hopefully won't be in as much pain every month --similar pain as a heart attack, mind you-- and good because now that I have an "underlying health condition", I may be eligible for some infertility coverage through my health care benefits. And good because now I have some answers to our losses.

Now, I am not saying we are going to jump right in to IVF again, but it could be an option for us financially in the future if we decide to do that.

It has been a little over a week since the surgery, but recovery has been difficult, more difficult than I anticipated. I thought, for some reason, it would be similar recovery as a hysteroscopy I've had in the past. But I was so wrong. My incisions still have tape on them, which is uncomfortable, and I can barely bend my torso-- but more on my recovery later...

I am truly grateful that I am able to work from home and recover, and my husband has been amazing throughout this whole process.

Anyway, now that we have discovered Endo, who knows what's next?

Baby dust to all,

S.
